Mini Me’s current obsession is emojis. She is determined to redecorate her room in with emojis and have an emoji-themed birthday. I can’t decide if I should be terrified of this new fixation or excited that she’s finally gone off Shopkins…
In any case, while she was off visiting the grandparents I decided to make her some little emoji magnets with my brand new Cricut Explore Air (my birthday present to me). If you have a Cricut or similar cutting machine this is a really simple and quick craft. These could be used for magnets, bow centres or even 3D stickers with double sided adhesive on the back.
The “buttons” are made from Biggie Perler Beads which have been melted down. Preheat your oven to 300 (regular or toaster) and place the Biggie beads about 1-inch apart on a parchment sheet. Bake for 40-60 minutes. They melt down into almost perfect 1/2-inch circles with nice flat backs.
I cut the emoji faces from black Cricut vinyl and the little heart eyes from red. I found the button magnets at our local Dollar Tree. Put a little hot glue on the back, attach the magnet and you’re good to go. If you don’t have a very hot glue gun, I would recommend another glue like E6000 to ensure the magnets stay on.
And then you’re done! If you’d like to make your own you can download my emoji faces SVG cutting file.
